A great new experience for me - to sing in a choir accompanying a free jazz quartet. Songs inspired by Spanish poet Rafael Alberti, composed by norwegian trumpet player Didrik Ingvaldsen were performed at JAZZFEST BRNO, with Avishai Cohen Quartet taking the stage in the second half of the evening. The choir was conducted by Jana Vondrů, with written themes and a lot of improvised parts. It is a great challenge to try blurring the lines between the written and the improvised music. NOCZ quartet is going to release a CD with the songs, Sailor on a Dry Land, so check them out, it's an amazing band with amazing musical concepts!
